Programs

The younger years in a child’s life are some of the most vital. You want to provide your son or daughter with a foundational education that allows him or her to succeed in their elementary years. Little Shepherds Learning Center offers that and more, because an education is not only about schooling.

At LSLC we are dedicated to providing children with a loving and nurturing environment that fosters developmental growth. Our duty is to establish the foundation from which children will base their coming years of educational schooling. And in equal measure, we teach children that God loves them, Christ died for their sins and they can one day be with Him in Heaven.

This school is a nonprofit organization that offers half, partial, and full day programs for children three months through five years old. We provide a safe and caring atmosphere that encourages and develops children mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

What We Provide

Programs cater to the specific needs of your child’s age and development, while following the regulations of the California Community Care Licensing Division and the National Association for the Education of Young Children. LSLC is a nondenominational Christian school that teaches the Bible and Christian principles. You and your child are not required to be Christian to attend.

The following are the age-appropriate programs we offer for your child:

Infant Program

Three Months to 17 Months Old
Your child is assigned a single, specific caregiver allowing the pair to bond. The needs of the infant are always put first.

Toddler Program

18 to 30 Months Old
Your child is now introduced to scheduled lesson plans with allotted Bible times and structured activity and play. The developmental curriculum focuses on the social development, motor skills and language, and the spiritual curriculum includes prayer, songs and age-appropriate Bible stories.

Preschool Program

2 to 3 Years Old
Here your child will learn social interaction, language and movement activities. Your child will be introduced to sitting in small groups and listening to Bible stories. We will also partner with you in teaching your child how to use the restroom.

3 to 4 Years Old
In this age group, the developmental curriculum focuses on group activities like taking turns, learning to lead and caring for others. Spiritually, your child is taught who God is, how he created the world and how he created him or her.

4 to 5 Years Old — Pre-Kindergarten
This is the Kindergarten Readiness Program. Your child will be prepared for kindergarten in teaching him or her how to recognize letters and number and familiarizing him or her to phoneme and phonics. And spiritually, your child learns that Jesus is God and that he loves him or her.

TK Program (Transitional Kindergarten)

Our TK Program (Transitional Kindergarten) creates a quality early learning experience by merging early childhood education and school age programs.  While developing the Whole Child, we have merged the California Learning Foundations, Kindergarten Common Core Standards, and Biblical principals.  Learning opportunities surface throughout the day, interwoven with carefully planned curriculum based in the developmental tasks of the age and interest of the children.  Children are encouraged and supported in learning to solve problems, negotiate, and work toward reciprocal relationships with their peers.

Extracurricular Programs

The needs of your child are further met through the Extracurricular Programs. You have a choice to register your child for great programs like ballet, gymnastics, jr. science and sports.

Classroom Benefits

To maintain the highest of standards at LSLC, all the classrooms have low teacher-to-child ratios as advised by NAYEC to promote the fostering of each child. And for your infant and toddler, we also provide daily care reports that inform you about your child’s day at the center.

With all the programs, you will receive developmental assessments that record milestones and map your child’s curriculum and lesson plans to target his or hers’ next developmental and curricular goals. While much learning is done within the classroom, a great deal is also done outside, inviting your child to learn through exploration and sensory experiences.

And to further keep you connected with your child, each room houses a classroom phone linking you to your child’s teacher, ensuring quality care. We also keep you informed through our monthly newsletters. At LSLC we know that partnering with you helps better develop your child’s growth.
