COVID-19 Parent Protocol

Dear LSLC Families,

We are so pleased to be welcoming you back. It’s important that you know we will be doing everything possible to keep your child and our staff protected. We are closely monitoring reports from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Public Health Department (DPH), and Community Care Licensing for all updated information.

Based on guidance from the CDC, DPH, and Community Care Licensing, we are asking for your cooperation with the following health protocols:

  • DO NOT send your child to LSLC if they are experiencing cold/flu symptoms, or are feeling sick in general. Based on the new LA County DPH guidelines, if they are sent home by LSLC, they will need to be quarantined for 10 days, along with the rest of their classroom and teachers. So please exercise caution, even if they are mildly ill, and keep them home if they don’t feel well.
  • You or an authorized family member be available to pick up your child in the event that they become noticeably sick at LSLC.
  • If you are experiencing cold/flu symptoms, we ask that you NOT drop off our pick up your child. Please send someone else to drop off or pick up your child.
  • If you, your child, or any family member has traveled– in the past 10 days, please DO NOT come to LSLC, regardless of your medical condition. We strongly recommend you follow the CDC guidelines to self-isolate for 10 days.
  • Your child will need proof of a negative Covid-19 test result prior to their return to LSLC.

Current protocols in place at LSLC to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community:

  • Children who become noticeably sick at LSLC will be isolated immediately and parents/guardians will be contacted for immediate pick up.
  • Children must stay home in isolation if they are ill, even with mild symptoms. They should not return to LSLC for a minimum of 7 days after the onset of symptoms and until their symptoms have improved and they are free of fever for at least 72 hours without fever-reducing medication. Please contact your medical provider for medical advice.
  • Upon arrival to LSLC, temperatures of both children and staff will be taken and monitored multiple times throughout the day with no-touch thermometers.
  • Children ages 3 and up will be required to wear a mask throughout the day with the exception of meal times and nap time. Parents must supply child size mask daily at drop off.
  • Staff will be required to wear mask, gloves, and smock throughout day.
  • Upon arrival to and departure from LSLC, prior to eating, and multiple times throughout the day, children will be instructed to wash hands thoroughly (for at least 20 seconds). Hand sanitizer is used when needed and available.
  • Routinely throughout the day, staff will disinfect materials and surfaces.
  • Signs that remind everyone about personal hygiene protocols are posted in LSLC.
  • We have enacted a no-handshaking/ no-hugging policy, in order to reduce skin-to-skin contact and/or close contact.
  • Classroom size has returned to capacity as long as children can safely distance and pods are stable, following the same teacher to child ratios as prior to the closure: Infant 1:3, Toddler 1:5, and Preschool 1:8
  • There will be no more than 2 pods per classroom
  • Children will remain in the same classroom pod throughout the day. We will not be merging classrooms as the children leave.
  • Teachers will be offering more opportunities for individual play and solo activities, limiting the amount of sharing, planning activities that do not require close physical contact between multiple children, designate a tub for toys that need to be cleaned and wiped after use.
  • Recess will only be with the same group of children from the same classroom to reduce the number of children in each area.
  • LSLC business hours will return to our regular hours of 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Parents will be required to sign a Waiver Form before returning to LSLC.

Check In/Out protocols in place:

  • Drop off and pick up of your child will take place inside the building. Parents will be allowed inside the building for drop off and pick up purposes only.
  • Parents and children ages 3 and up will need to wear a mask while checking in/out.
  • Parents must wait for their child’s temperature to be read prior to checking in on their own mobile device through the Brightwheel QR code.
  • QR Codes will be located above classroom cubbies, on classroom doors, and playground doors for your check in/out convenience.
  • Parents are welcome to stay no longer than 15 minutes in the building or on campus.
  • Kindly keep any conversations with teachers brief. If you need to have a conversation with them, please call them during nap time or contact them through Brightwheel.
  • We are trying to minimize the items our staff has to handle from home that must be disinfected prior to coming into the building. The Infant Staff will not be taking any infant car seats. If you must leave your car seat, you can leave it outside the preschool office, under the awing next to the black bench.
  • Diaper bags and lunch boxes for rooms 114 and 116 will be placed on the counter top just outside the classrooms prior to the teacher receiving your child at the classroom door. The teachers will take your diaper bag or lunch box and put all these items away for you. At the end of the day, they will gather all items and place them on the counter top outside the classroom for you to retrieve and will release your child to you at the classroom door.
  • All other classrooms will have cubbies, right outside the classrooms for you to place your child’s belongings.
  • Student file folders will be located on top of cubbies or for Rooms 114 and 116 they will be located on outside counter top. Be sure to check your child’s file folder daily.
  • We ask that all Toddler and Preschool children arrive no later than 9 am when class officially begins.
  • When picking up, we will make sure your child washes his/her hands prior to handing them back to you.

These protocols will most likely be revised again after June 15th depending on what Governor Newsom’s says and what L.A. County orders. We will keep you posted.
